When it comes to packing for your elopement, you don’t want to miss a thing! We’re here to give you tips on what to remember so you don’t have to worry about it the day of when you’re far from home!

Wedding day outfits:  Sounds like a no-brainer but make sure you pack your full outfit for the day of. Often times wedding gowns require certain underwear and bras to ensure you cant see it. For the grooms, it comes down to the little things like handkerchiefs and socks. Be sure to properly pack your garments so they don’t get damaged during travel. Ask your hotel or Air BnB if you can expect an iron, if not, pack one or plan to stop at the store upon arrival.

Accessories:  Whatever you plan on wearing on the day of your wedding, make sure it’s packed! That includes jewelry, heels, and your comfortable shoes. If you plan on changing your shoes and even if you don’t, its nice to have as an opinion for getting those photos on top of a hill or if you start to get blisters. The best advice we have here is to break in those heels first!

Vows:  After writing your vows, you don’t want to leave them behind! Take a photo of handwritten notes or email typed notes to yourself just in case. We highly suggest using a moleskin book to read them off of vs using your phone.

Lipstick:  While you might be getting your makeup down for the big day, most makeup artists will suggest you use your own lipstick so you can have it with you for touchups throughout the day.

The Rings:  Here’s what could be another “no brainer” but when the nerves hit, its easy to forget! Pack these in your carry-on so you can relax during your flight.

Weather options:  Pack back-up accessories to accommodate for the weather such as a fur coat, umbrellas, sunglasses, sunscreen, or anything else you can think of. For our brides at Custom Weddings of Colorado, we do pack fur coat options as well as umbrellas! We want you to have nothing on your mind but enjoying your big day.

TIPS:
  • If you are working with a planner, they will likely bring an emergency supply kits with hair pins, BandAids, scissors, etc.  Also, check with your planner on items they might bring (i.e. Wendee brings cake stands, cutting knifes.).
  • Sometimes planners will allow you to ship items to them. If you do this, ship around a month out (too far runs the risk of getting lost/damaged), carefully pack the items, and clearly label the outside of the box with your names and wedding date.  Provide tracking numbers.
  • To shake-out wrinkles in any attire from travel, steam the bathroom by running a hot shower.  When the room is steamy, hang your attire/dress in the room.
